"Shadows of the Soul: Exploring the landscape of Grief” aims to create a safe and inclusive
space for the audience to explore the depths of grief, foster individual understanding,
compassion, and empathy. By inviting contemplation, reflection, and dialogue, This exhibition
endeavors to support individuals in navigating their own loss while promoting a border cultural
conversation around this essential and often misunderstood aspect of the human experience.
We acknowledge that we are gathered on ancestral lands; Treaty 1 territory, the traditional territory of the Anishinaabeg, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene peoples, and on the National Homeland of the Red River Métis.
We recognize and honour Treaty 3 Territory Shoal Lake 40 First Nation, the source of Winnipeg’s clean drinking water. In addition, we acknowledge Treaty Territories which provide us with access to electricity we use in both our personal and professional lives.
Acknowledging this truth is important to the Gas Station Arts Centre, yet we acknowledge that it is only a small part of cultivating and protecting strong relationships with Indigenous communities.
