Artist's Statement
In my travels throughout India, Indonesia, and Manitoba’s wilderness parks, there are moments where I look up from the busy work of hiking, exploring or navigating, and spontaneously, everything stops. Moments where the power of the landscape, be it peaceful or chaotic, majestic or microscopic, brings a keen sense of being out of my self; totally immersed in the moment. All else, even a sense of identity, melts away. All there is to do is be still, and breathe and listen. I am curious about how landscapes provide unique opportunities to be completely present through their beauty or intensity.
The Gas Station Arts Centre Gallery, located in our lobby, has a long history of showcasing emerging Manitoban artists. The gallery provides free display space and in a secure ut thriving artistic venue.
